Job Summary

The position to cover includes: to verify all F5 LTM VIPs are running correctly, verify logs in Syslog for ASM alerts, attend to request of ASM rejections with Support ID #, and report it immediately to the Team Engineers to solve any issue in short time, be able to inspect changes reported by Logs, or BigIQ alerts. It will be recommendable if has knowledge about BigIP-DNS to be able to take care of External DNS request.

It will be also trained to attend MFA issues with both DUO or Akamai, to help in the resolutions of day to day events.

At this moment, the team counts with 2 engineers that are doing: Project, Development, Testing and Maintenance on all F5 and 2FA requests. All request comes as if the Team should be working 24hsx7days, and is close to the real situation. We need to be able to focuss in Project and Development without have to stop all the time due to Maintenance or Testing purposes.

Job Responsibilities

The person who be in this charge has to participate if possible in all the development of the area to know them from scratch, it will be analyzing Syslogs to improve security on all the protected applications facing the internet at this moment (Task that only is done now, for have not enough personal to do it in a regular basis), take care of alerts of Nodes, Pools or any alarm that SolarWinds, Syslog, BigIQ or the F5 itself could be generating to improve the solutions of any new issues. We have 8 Hypervisors, with 16 APMs and 32 LTMs so even with one more engineer on the team, it will be a real tedious job.

Let the rest of the team knows about issues as well as new requests that could be arriving to the team.

The user needs to have a background understanding Network Technology, as well as routing since that is an important part of the understanding to ensure we don’t have any kind of flaw in the design or development of any project.

Also, it is recommended that knows about AD and Radius to understand AAA that we use on all our Access Applications

Job Requirements

Knowledge of F5 LTM, F5 APM , F5 BigIP-DNS, F5 ASM and F5 BigIQ Not required but preferable. Versions 11.5 to 15, in F5 Hypervisors, VIPRION not necessary, but preferable

Knowledge of Networking, Routing (BGP preferred), ZEBOS and ARM, including VRFs and Route Domains

Understanding Visual Editor, in APM and MFA technologies.

Understanding of NIST security protocols and process and ability to apply for, acquire and maintain NAC clearance. Preference given to persons currently possessing an active clearance in JPAS

Ability to troubleshoot remotely

Ability to work with customers and vendors IT teams to trouble shoot complex issues

Ability to work with internal teams to roll out new projects and trouble shoot issues

Minimum of 5 years F5 administration experience

Minimum of 7 years of Network trouble shooting and management experience

Candidate must demonstrate in depth knowledge in one of the following areas:

F5 LTM, F5 APM , F5 BigIP-DNS, F5 ASM and F5 BigIQ, Networking, Routing (BGP) ZEBOS and ARM, including VFR and Routing Domain.

Preferred experience:

Candidates with experience working with/in Federal Government, DOD/veterans or intelligence preferred. Due to security requirements, all interested candidates must be able to authorized to work in the U.S. without need for sponsorship or restriction

“The pay range for this position starts at $90,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonus opportunities may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.”
