Fabrication Manager – American Bridge Manufacturing

Job Description

Responsible for the workforce, facilities, equipment, internal and external projects, suppliers, contracts, budgets, outside business relationships, and overall coordination with American Bridge Company and Southland Holdings.

Duties Include:

  • Responsible for developing and managing a team that performs fabrication, welding, assembly for custom steel fabrication of permanent and temporary works.
  • Plan, organize, and control production in the fabrication department to ensure that materials are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and to standard.
  • Provides leadership regarding safety and training. Fosters a Safety Culture within the shop.
  • Provides leadership regarding quality. Eliminates reworks, rejected or sloppy work.
  • Represents the Company in a professional, positive light to customers and employees.
  • Communicates well with the project team.
  • Understands cost control systems, productivity tracking, resource scheduling, and overall budget management.
  • Oversees and participates in all necessary paperwork, e.g., daily time sheets, safety and quality audits, customer-required paperwork, equipment inspections, etc.
  • Advises Project Management of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties; assists in resolving such problems, as required.

Participates in estimating of primarily structural steel fabrication. Maintain a constant knowledge of current structural steel prices to assist in making long term decisions.

Make recommendations on hiring of the workforce.

Evaluate investments in existing and new facilities for the future growth of American Bridge Manufacturing to meet the needs of American Bridge and Southland Holdings.

Evaluation of existing inventories of temporary falsework, equipment, and tools for future investment to support the growth of American Bridge Company and Southland Holdings.

Develop relationships, evaluate, and pursue business opportunities in the Pittsburgh area and Midwestern US to the benefit of the organization.

Report directly to the VP of Operations at American Bridge Company and coordinate with all department heads and project managers.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in structural steel fabrication, other manufacturing or construction related field.

Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Be willing to authorize a background check.
  • Have no criminal convictions for dishonesty, sexual misconduct, violence, or acts of terrorism.
  • Be willing to authorize motor vehicle driving record checks.
  • Have valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.
  • Be willing to submit to pre-hire, random, and post-incident drug and alcohol testing.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Have good attendance and show up to work on time every day.
  • Have strong basic math and measuring skills.
  • Be able to pass welding tests for stick and flux core.
  • Have an eye for quality and strong attention to detail.
  • Be self-motivated and eager to learn and improve.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $51,107.36 - $106,929.03 per year
