Manages the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings and other facilities. Plans, budgets and schedules facility and equipment modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs. Designs and develops organizational policies relevant to the facilities department. Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout, communication services and facilities expansion. Will handle Hazardous Waste and be responsible for following all regulatory guidelines associated with disposal. May have responsibility for establishing and overseeing Environmental, Health, and Safety standards and Information Technology functions. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Interacts regularly with outside agencies and vendors and service providers in the execution of duties. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
Facilities Manager:
- SCOPE: Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).
- JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develops and administers schedules and performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities.
- DISCRETION: Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short term goals of the organization.
- INTERACTION: Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company. Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.
- SUPERVISION: Manages, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing. In some instances, this manager may be responsible for a functional area and not have any subordinate employees.
- EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Typically requires 5+ years of related supervisory or management experience and technical certification preferred. Associates Degree desired.

- Able to navigate stairs and ladders and access confined and tight space areas
- Multiple environments - Cleanroom, moderate noise, office, outdoors
- Frequently works with and handles Hazardous Waste
- Occasional lifting pushing and pulling of up to 50 pounds
- Occasional bending and squatting to reach difficult to reach areas
- Must follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedures and understand the impact of position on safety and environment
Skills and Experience
- Basic facility management (semiconductor or manufacturing setting)
- HVAC experience
- Knowledge on factory machines and how to repair i.e. CNC machines
- Environmental health and safety compliance
- Experience working with wastewater systems, hazardous waste, air permits, etc.
- Prior experience with hazardous chemicals
- Experience with a CMMS
