JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Project Technician is responsible for managing repairs and construction for the Facilities Management department.
This position is responsible for managing and coordinating tasks associated with development and design phases for projects that are limited in scope, value, and complexity. The position develops scope, manages budgets, and schedules timelines for each assigned project or repair. The Project Technician is responsible for purchasing materials for assigned projects, coordinating the activities of architects, engineers, consultants, vendors, contractors, and internal departments as appropriate. The Project Technician also serves as construction manager in coordinating activities during the bidding, construction and the commissioning phase of projects.
This position will work closely with our EH&S and Facilities Planning and Development teams.
EDUCATION:
Associate degree in architectural or engineering design, construction, building systems, or combination of direct related experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum experience - three to four years involving direct work with clients (users), architects, engineers, and contractors, and serving as project or construction manager for construction projects ranging in value, and with varying degrees of complexity. Construction management experience required, preferably in an institutional (health care) setting. Must demonstrate skills in coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and conducting/facilitating meetings. Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously. A basic working knowledge in the use and application of CAD/CAFM systems technology with a preference on AutoCAD as well as uses and applications of P.C. based word processing, spreadsheet, and scheduling and project management systems software.
