Overview

The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) has an immediate career opening for a Facilities Services Specialist. This opening is located at IDA's Center for Communications Research in Princeton, New Jersey (CCRP). We are seeking a Faciliities Services Specialist, who performs routine general building maintenance. The Specialist will monitor a wide variety of equipment and systems that are in place including: HVAC, environmental monitoring, fire, generator, access control, lighting, and power management. Primary responsibilities relate to all aspects of facilities maintenance. The Specialist conducts a variety of administrative duties, inspections, tasks, and services monitoring.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and schedules custodial, mechanical, security, automation, fire, and facility/building service representatives and vendors under the guidance of the Manager for Center Operations (MCO)
  • Responsible for facility operations, including landscaping, plant maintenance, plumbing services, janitorial services, general repairs and contracted maintenance (electrical, infrastructure, fire, alarm, cameras, and IT systems).
  • Oversees the operation of the facility equipment to include company vehicle, generator, chillers, HVAC and building automation systems, fire systems, alarm systems, elevator, and building maintenance matters are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the building internal and external conditions of walls, carpeting, ceiling tiles, doors, front gate, and small plumbing issues, and lighting repairs, to include grounds.
  • Ensures the preventative maintenance procedures, certifications, and inspections are conducted as required, for all systems and equipment, to include environmental assessment/water treatment, sewer, gate maintenance, company vehicle, mechanical and automation, fire/LSS, storm drains, generators, pest and animal control, and first aid safety.
  • Coordinates with the MCO in maintaining, monitoring, and scheduling service contracts.
  • Provides support and physical labor as needed with deliveries, moving furniture, and general custodial tasks.
  • Maintains operating manuals, as-builds, and logs for the facility/service records for all equipment.
  • Assists the Property Administrator in receiving and issuing all property including furniture, office machinery, computers and software. Monitors inventories and organization of facility supplies.
  • May assist the Property Administrator with all requests to government property administrator for relief of property accountability and for government instruction and approval to dispose of property.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Five years' experience in general trades and contractual custodial staff, preferably in government or government contractor environment, or completion of technical training in HVAC

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Familiarity with MS Office or Linux
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds alone, ability to climb ladders, work from heights and stand for long periods of time
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is required
