Calling all handy folks that enjoy working in a variety of locations and around a diverse workgroup. Do you have a broad knowledge of building maintenance and construction and the innate ability to repair just about anything? Facilities maintenance staff perform this type of work daily and the City needs YOU to join its team of skilled professionals to perform work in the afternoon and evening hours. Facilities Services Division manages building operations and maintenance, custodial services, tenant improvements, major renovations and new construction at more than 96 City facilities, totaling 2.3 million square feet. A Facility Maintenance Technician I performs a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance, such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, preventive maintenance, tenant improvements, fencing, concrete, pressure washing, and everything in between. Assignments may include working side-by-side with other maintenance personnel, working alone, or leading a team of vendors or contractors to accomplish tasks safely and efficiently. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Assignments are tracked through a computerized maintenance management system. Once trained your regular schedule will be Monday through Thursday, 1 pm - 11:30 pm. Overtime may be a condition of employment. What are the minimum qualifications? High school diploma or GED, and two years of experience in maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities, including experience in the carpentry, painting, construction trades including some lead responsibilities, or any combination of experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the essential job functions.Two years of trade school or college level training in building maintenance, construction, or grounds maintenance preferred.Must pass the pre-employment background check and job fitness assessment.Must have an Oregon Driver’s license and meet the City of Salem’s driving standardsMust pass criminal background check necessary to obtain Criminal Justice Information System clearance and Law Enforcement Data System certification within 30 days of hire (clearance must be maintained throughout employment) Where can I find out more about the position?
