Job Summary
The Engineering team provides engineering expertise to help the company to attain optimum performance of natural gas pipelines and storage systems, and to conduct long-term planning to expand DTM’s pipeline systems to effectively meet customer needs or to reach new markets.
This position has a broad range of duties such as assisting with the planning and analysis of various pipeline routes; equipment specifications for projects; development and consultation on commercial strategies, new service offerings, changes to current services; analysis to support field work, advising through various operational challenges; and planning assessments of potential pipeline acquisitions and other special projects.
Key Accountabilities
A Facility Planning Engineer will perform these duties at a level consistent with work experience.
- Evaluates the pipeline system's hydraulic characteristics through computer simulation models to determine the ability to accommodate customer requests for transportation and gathering services, means for serving new markets, methods to optimize the operation of the pipeline system, and to analyze alternative operations during facility outages.
- Analyzes pipeline operations using various tools to predict performance under future operating conditions, locate underutilized capacity, simulate operating conditions in order to respond to technical questions, and to compare actual versus estimated system performance.
- Develops models for existing and proposed systems, forecasts their capability and performance, and communicates this information to a wide variety of team members.
- Evaluates or reviews pipeline system capacity to determine availability of transportation capacity
- Evaluates and recommends appropriate compressor units suitable for their particular purpose on a project-by-project basis.
- Prepares and communicates clear and concise reports of analyses to various functional group leaders that meet the objectives of the Business Unit.
- Coordinates between various functional groups with minimal direction.
- Other tasks as required.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, from an accredited institution; Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, and at least one year of related experience.

- Experience with Synergi Gas software a plus
- Experience with Ariel compressors and Ariel Performance software a plus
- Excellent attention to detail
- Well-honed organizational skills
- Critical thinking skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's licens
