Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Family Group Leader is to prepare and co-lead weekly skills building classes for child participants ages 6-11 and to co-lead weekly family activities.
Core Responsibilities
  • Attend training of Strengthening Families Program model.
  • Attend Strengthening Families Program Team Meetings and respond to Site Coordinator & Program Manager in a timely manner.
  • Review Group Leader Manual.
  • Coordinate weekly group preparation with other Parent’s/Children’s Group Leader and communicate material/incentive needs to Site Coordinator or Project Manager.
  • Co-lead children’s skills based group weekly (14 weeks cycle) while implementing evidence based curricula with fidelity.
  • Assist in setting up for parent’s/children’s group and family’s activities group.
  • Attend weekly debriefing sessions with Site Coordinator and other group leaders to assure model fidelity, resolve problems and issues, and promote on-going program quality.
  • Complete weekly reports to collect outcome data, weekly time sheets and mileage forms as appropriate.
  • Assist in recruiting group session participants.
  • Attend booster session(s).
  • Ability to commit entire cycle via in person or zoom session(s).
Qualifications
The Children’s Group Leader will have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
  • Possess warm, empathic relationship-building skills and communication style to establish a trusting relationships with families.
  • Teaching or group leader experience of children is preferred.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills to prioritize workload.
  • Knowledge of community resources that can be used to access them to assist the program.
  • Ability to be a staff team player to achieve the goals of the program and of the agency.
  • Dependable transportation and phone service.
  • Technical use of zoom.
  • Effective communication skills. Being able to listen to others, process information, and communicate effectively.
Working Conditions
The Parent’s/Children’s Group Leader will be working in an office setting, dining room and training room. The position will require standing, walking, sitting, lifting and moving furniture. The position will also require phone calls, emails and basic computer data entry. Cycles may be in person or via zoom.
