GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Family Services Worker - Center (FS Worker) assists with planning, organizing and implementing Family and Community Partnership services, under the supervision of the Director of Family Wellness and Community Partnership. The FS Worker develops and implements Individualized Family Partnership agreements with parents and conducts visits to the homes of the families. The FS Worker also acts as community liaison for the school and wellness center.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
o Organizes, facilitates, and conducts meetings and training sessions with parents (completing the Parent Education Training form, after each session).
o Conducts home visits to each enrolled family.
o Develops individualized plans with families, with short- and long-term goals and methods of reaching the goals.
o Participates in community boards, councils, advisory groups, etc., representing the agency.
o Participates in classroom and Parent Committee meetings.
o Provides training and support to parent volunteers.
o Attends DOE training and other trainings arranged by supervisor and maintains ongoing efforts for professional development.
o Maintains family files and other records of activities to promote family partnerships.
o Attends all center biweekly staffing, staff meetings and monthly Case management meetings.
o Identifies community resources/ services for families served by the pre- school, establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with them.
o Advocates for families and promotes their ability to advocate for themselves.
o Ensures the delivery of social services, emergency, and non-emergency services, directly or through referrals.
o Assists Family Services team in developing and updating the Community Resources Directory.
o Responds to and follows up on three-day absences of children.
o Submits accurate, timely reports as requested by Leadership staff.
o Ensures absolute confidentiality with respect to information records concerning families and children.
o Performs ongoing recruitment and accurately documents recruitment work.
o Represents the Luminous Early Child Care mission, values, ethics, and upholds agency Code of Conduct at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION:
o HS Diploma or GED.
o Family Development Certification (FDC) strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
o Experience working in a preschool is required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
o Bilingual in Spanish a plus
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
o Able to be an active and involved member of the school program.
o Strong time management skills; able to handle multiple tasks and assignments at once.
o Flexible, available to work some holidays and weekends.
o Proficient with E-mail, Microsoft Word and internet navigation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
