Description:
The Women’s Environmental Institute is seeking lively farm crew people for our Amador Hill Farm. The position is designed for an experienced farmer/gardener who is interested in taking a leadership role at WEI’s organically certified farm.. You will assist the Farm Manager with day-to-day operations on a diversified organic farm. Duties include, but are not limited to: bed prep, planting, weeding, irrigation, pest management, harvesting, washing and packing produce, and cleaning. Responsibilities include assisting the Farm Manager in training farm crew members, implementing the farm plan, organizing and closing down the workday, record-keeping, and maintaining our weekly production schedule.
Required Qualifications:
- Commitment to the mission and values of WEI.
- Two to three year experience working on an organic farm
- Training in organic and regenerative farming techniques and strategies
- Interest in becoming a farm manger for a small scale organic farm
- Ability to work on an intergenerational and culturally diverse farm
- Strong and responsible work ethic and punctuality
- Good time management and communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills, reliable, responsible, dependable and honest.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Means of transportation to and from the farm
Preferred:
- Local resident of Chisago, Isanti, Anoka and Polk Counties
- Experience driving tractors and maintaining farm equipment
- Experience working as a farm manager or farm lead at another farm.
- Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs
The position includes course fee waiver for WEI classes and workshops. On-site farm stay-over possible one or two days per week.
