FERTILIZER TRUCK DRIVER (CDL)

Carmine Feed & Fertilizer is a local, family-owned business serving customers across multiple counties in east central Texas. We operate two feed store locations in Giddings and Carmine as well as a fertilizer blending plant in Carmine and a fleet of delivery and spreader trucks.

We’re looking for dependable fertilizer truck drivers to join our team. These are full-time, hourly roles offering plenty of overtime pay during our peak seasons (fall and spring).

Daily duties include:

• Inspecting, operating, and performing routine preventive maintenance on company-owned trucks. All routes are local, so drivers can expect to be home nightly. This role would primarily involve operating one of our commercial fertilizer spreader and weed-spray trucks.
• Applying bulk fertilizer, ag lime, and weed-spraying products to customer fields and pastures according to assigned directions and company protocol. This involves loading the truck with appropriate product, navigating to customer locations, and working independently on customer property to complete the job. It also involves taking accurate product and acreage measurements and completing appropriate work order documents for billing.
• Assisting in the general upkeep of fertilizer blending plant and truck yard facilities.
• Occasional relief driving duties as needed, which might include operating a tractor-trailer to make delivery runs between the feed mill and our retail stores or operating a bulk grain truck to make bulk feed deliveries to customers.

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone with:

• Class A CDL with air brake endorsement, good driving history, and experience towing mobile heavy equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience performing routine preventive maintenance on diesel trucks and mobile heavy equipment.
• Experience operating a skid steer, forklift, and other material handling equipment.
• Geographic familiarity with Lee, Fayette, Bastrop, and/or Washington Counties. This helps in locating our customers’ properties and specific grounds entrance points.
• Background in local agriculture highly desirable, but not required.
• Upstanding character and good people skills. Drivers routinely interact with customers in the field and represent the face of Carmine Feed & Fertilizer as they do.
• Good judgment and the ability to work independently. Our drivers must occasionally make decisions in the field that impact company costs and customer satisfaction. We value good judgment and the ability to learn quickly from mistakes.
• Flexible, consistent availability for a fluctuating work schedule. Demand varies by season, but during the busiest times (spring and fall), drivers can expect to work plenty of overtime (paid at time-and-a-half).
