Position Summary

Reporting to the Finance Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for leading the financial functions of the New Phoenix Plant. While finance is centralized in Fresno, this position will be closely integrated to the team and provide local support to operations in all finance matters and day-to-day functions to ensure that the correct protocols and processes for financial controls, reporting, payments for the Phoenix Plant are in place. They will also be required to support the AP/AR function. The Assistant Controller will also be responsible for Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) processes such as forecasting, budgeting, engaging in cost reduction analysis, and reviewing operational performance. The Assistant Controller will interact with several levels of finance and businesses management and will be an essential business partner to the business.

The ideal candidate for this position would be a self-starter, strong independent contributor and process oriented with solid financial background in a manufacturing environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Prepare budgets, coordinate month-end-close and management reporting on a periodic basis, analyze financial activities and performance, recommend action as needed for multiple manufacturing locations.
  • Perform advanced financial analyses to determine present and forecasted financial health of the business with special focus on inventory, manufacturing costs – labor, overhead and freight.
  • Manage standard cost maintenance, production variance analysis, activity costing, and customer/product profitability.
  • Collaborate and provide routine business support to enable informed decision-making.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the monthly close process to ensure complete, accurate and timely monthly actual results, including variance analysis.
  • Complete all aspects of financial reporting, dashboards, metrics and compliance reporting.
  • Manage and review journal entries, account reconciliations, process order closure, allocations for month-end-close.
  • Review perpetual inventory, monitor cycle and/or physical inventories, and reporting and analysis of cost variances.
  • Support fixed assets control throughout all the asset life cycle.
  • Manage and support complex internal and external audit and reporting projects.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required, majors in finance, accounting or related field are preferred.
  • Five (5) years of manufacturing cost accounting experience is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required
  • SAP experience in manufacturing and cost accounting is highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Ability to build relationships and work well in a team-oriented environment is required.
  • Learning agility and game changer attitude will be key for the success in this position.
  • Must be able to work with diverse team across geographies
  • Ability and willingness to travel to Fresno, CA and other locations as needed for business.
