The Food and Beverage Solutions (FBS) North America (NOAM) group is the largest region within Tate & Lyle PLC (a UK listed company) with revenues of c. $900m. The business has a broad product offering ranging from single ingredient sweeteners, high intensity sweeteners, starches, fibres, and bespoke food system blends and operates across a wide range of food & beverage categories but with focus on Soups, Sauces & Dressings, Beverage and Confectionary, Dairy, Bakery, and the Nutrition category.

Role Position and Purpose

The region is positioned for growth within a challenging and competitive marketplace through its portfolio of existing products and new products in the pipeline that meet customer needs and fit with consumer trends and through a focused strategy of targeting higher growth category sub-segments.

The Finance Director (FD), FBS NOAM sits on the FBS NOAM leadership team reporting to the SVP FBS Finance with a strong dotted line to the President FBS NOAM.

The position has commercial finance responsibility for all sales within US & Canada (defined as FBS NOAM) irrespective of production origin (management reporting by destination) and fiscal responsibility for all product manufactured within and distributed by the US FBS business irrespective of final sales destination (statutory reporting by origin). This role will have finance responsibility for the 5 US Tate and Lyle Plants and play an important role in managing the relationship with our key supplier and JV partner (Primient business that was carved out of T&L in 2022 and where T&L holds a 49% shareholding).

Food and Beverage Solutions Leadership Structure

The FBS NOAM Leadership Team is headed by the President of the region, who leads a group that includes the Finance Director, 5 Channel Sales Leaders, HR Leader, Operations NOAM Leader, and Applications & Technical Service Leader. The FD is a core member of that group, who in addition to providing general business leadership, is responsible for providing the Leadership Team with wise counsel and recommendations on a broad range of financial, strategic, and commercial matters.

The Finance Director has 5 direct reports with dotted line leadership responsibilities for the shared service team based in Lodz, Poland.

High Level Accountabilities include:

  • Serve as a trusted financial partner to the FBS NOAM Regional President and Leadership Team
  • Actively engage the FBS NOAM Leadership Team
  • Provide strong financial leadership across US Operations/manufacturing plants
  • Maintain and develop a robust financial reporting and control environment
  • Lead the annual budgeting, planning, and forecasting activities of the FBS NOAM region and US manufacturing plants
  • Continuous development of the finance team with the region

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Experience of working within a multi-divisional and/or multi-geographical business and used to operating within a matrix reporting environment.
  • Broad finance experience, including financial reporting and commercial finance within fast paced, customer facing businesses with high performance demands and a drive for growth.
  • Strategic agility, business acumen and strong influencing skills
  • Ability to support great decisions through quick, clear actionable insight.
  • Ability to work at both big picture and detailed levels to match a diverse range of situations and audiences.
  • Demonstrable communication skills with the ability to manage a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Capacity to manage the diverse range of matters that arise on a day-to-day basis in a business with a broad and varying product offering and geographical reach.
  • Ability to balance financial and service goals, being both firm and collaborative with business colleagues
  • CPA or MBA accreditation (highly desirable)
