The annual salary range for this role in New York, is $120,000 - $140,000

Why we are recruiting:
The Climate Team within the World Economic Forum’s Centre for Nature and Climate (CNC) is recruiting a Finance Lead for the First Movers Coalition Finance Pillar to support programme community coordination, operations management and event delivery.
The First Movers Coalition (FMC) is a global initiative harnessing the purchasing power of companies to decarbonize seven “hard to abate” industrial sectors that currently account for 30% of global emissions: Aluminum, Aviation, Chemicals, Concrete, Shipping, Steel, and Trucking; along with speeding the adoption of innovative Carbon Removal technologies. To decarbonize at the speed needed to keep the planet on a 1.5-degree pathway, the “hard to abate” sectors require nascent clean technologies that are not yet competitive with current carbon-intensive solutions. The First Movers Coalition, through the purchasing commitments of its members, seeks to accelerate these clean technologies to commercial scale by 2030.
FMC currently has more than 50 member companies and ten Government Partners – US, Japan, Sweden, Germany, India, Denmark, Norway, Italy, United Kingdom, and Singapore. These Government Partners have all agreed to providing a supportive national and international environment, to assist in scaling low-carbon technologies.
The FMC Finance Pillar will proactively focus on financial mechanism to enhance FMC’s ability to jumpstart global demand for critical emerging technology solutions, helping to mobilize necessary investments and draw down costs.
Reporting lines and interactions
The role sits within our Financial Services team and reports to the Head of Sustainable Finance and Banking and Capital Markets Industry, leading the launch of First Movers Coalition Finance Pillar, and will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Programme Head for FMC.
Breakdown of main responsibilities
Support cross-cutting and sector specific FMC Finance Pillar stakeholder meeting planning and delivery. This will require working in collaboration with external partner organizations and internal FMC team members to support in the event design, programme development and delivery – including but not limited to process management, managing invitations, speaker management and technical event delivery;
Engage with financial institutions, investors and public institutions to launch and expand FMC financing workstream, through the development of financial mechanisms and by securing commitments from the financial sectors
Coordinate with FMC government leads on leveraging FMC Government Partners to build and deliver FMC financing workstream
Coordinate FMC finance pillar role in planned in country workshops (Brazil, India, South Africa)
Internal coordination to ensure alignment between FMC Finance Pillar and sustainable finance related activities from the Financial and Monetary Systems Platform and the broader Climate Action Platform
Organize and manage events related with FMC Finance Pillar (press release, speakers, logistics, background material)
Explore partnerships that can help rally innovative supply of finance (industry association, NGOs, market initiatives)
Education and professional background
  • 5+ years experience in the financial services industry or strategy consulting
  • Experience and high interest for Sustainable Finance and Energy Transition
  • Comfortable communicating with senior leaders across the public and private sectors and strong public speaking skills
  • Team player and self-starter who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent event management and organizational skills, cross-cultural verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to successfully juggling competing priorities, with shifting parameters, to deliver to the highest standards and to agreed deadlines
  • Excellent written, digital and verbal communication skills with fluency in English.
Vaccination requirement
