JOB SUMMARY:
This position will represent Grand Itasca's Business Services Department for all patients with billing questions or concerns at all locations. The will serve as face-to-face contact with patients and counsel patients on the available financial solutions available to them. The FA will have an in-depth and working knowledge of registration, hospital and clinic billing functions that are necessary to resolve the account and issues brought by the patient. They will also be well versed in the collection practices, understanding of the attorney general requirements and be able to liaison with bad debt vendors when needed.

JOB DUTIES:
1. Assist patients with their billing question and concerns for all locations.
2. Primary point of contact for benefit verification and checks.
3. Provide cost estimate to patients as requested.
4. Determine patient need for financial counseling and offer/explain the resources available to the patient and assist them with follow through.
5. Coordinate and assist patients with the community care program.
6. Coordinate and assist patient with setting up affordable payment plans.
7. Works directly with outside agencies to help maintain and answer patient accounts, including bankruptcies, probates, collection agency and legal questions as it relates to their bill.
8. Assist with authorization, referrals and other necessary items to assist the patient with claims.
9. Process patient refunds as required.
10. Attends required meetings and workshops to enhance professional growth and development thorough educational programs, seminars, etc. to keep current in the field.
11. Participates on committees as requested.
12. Performs other duties as required/directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. One plus years work experience in hospital and clinic insurance billing and follow up.
2. One plus years work experience in credit and collection work required. Hospital or clinic experience preferred.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of third party payers, policies and regulations.
4. Solid understanding of medical collections practices, including fee schedules and contracts.
5. Experience in business/professional written and verbal communication.
6. Exceptional custom relations skills.
7. Basic level of computer knowledge with experience in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
8. Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
9. Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
