JOB TITLE: Financial Analyst

REPORTS TO: Director of Financial Planning & Analysis

OVERVIEW OF ROLE: Performs and assists in moderately complex analysis and research. Interprets, reports and communicates information providing recommendations to improve/enhance respective area. Is familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within this field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Supports strategic thinking and works on some projects that are assigned on an “as needed” basis. Works under general supervision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs duties based on the fundamental understanding of Ward Transport & Logistics Corp’s business, industry trends and the competitive environment.
• Performs analysis as requested for all Ward-owned entities.
• Assist in the annual budget planning process.
• Develop and update forecasting models as well as tracking results compared to forecasts.
• Conduct benchmarking and business studies as needed.
• Develops and maintains ongoing reports while highlighting trends and significant variances.
• Identifies and evaluates opportunities, issues, and solutions to logistics needs.
• Provides support to research and develops information upon which decision making can be based in strategic areas.
• Performs various cost benefit analysis and other ad hoc projects as needed.
• Is a team player with the ability to work with all departments and service centers.
• Fully support all technologies and processes that are intended to improve efficiencies and/or the customer experience. Support would include adherence to training programs, guidelines and processes associated with these systems.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS/BA in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
• Strong analytical and creativity skills are necessary to develop new methods and approaches.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to work on multiple tasks accurately and within set deadlines.
• Knowledge of balance sheet, income statements, and cash flow statements is preferred.
• Must be detailed oriented.

• Must be a team player with the ability to work with all departments and service centers.

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
