Overview:

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a Financial Assistant to join our Finance group in Wethersfield, CT. The Financial Assistant will operate under close supervision to perform a variety of account reconciliations and routine clerical tasks in support of the accounting/finance function. This position also assists with basic questions and issues and refers more complex issues to high-level staff.


Responsibilities
  • Assists with the preparation of contracts/amendments
  • Handles routine accounts payable duties
  • Processes and prepares routine, standard accounting/finance records and forms
  • Sets up and maintains accounting/finance records, files, and correspondence
  • Compiles and reviews invoices, checks, and other accounting/financial data
  • Performs reconciliations, transfers, or balancing operations involving accounting/financial information
  • Acknowledges correspondence and responds to staff inquiries involving accounting/financial processing questions of a routine nature
  • Develops working knowledge of accounting/finance concepts, systems, and procedures
  • Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies and procedures
  • Other clerical tasks as assigned

Skills and Attributes

  • Basic understanding and knowledge of accounting/finance
  • Familiarity using Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to learn and use accounting/financial computer applications
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to accurately enter data into system and perform simple to moderately complex mathematical calculations
Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of related accounting and/or finance experience
