Job description
The Financial Reporting Manager leads the preparation and distribution of periodic financial statements for internal and external use. This position will work closely with the accounting team (including direct reports), senior leadership, and requires collaboration with retail managers, Divisional Vice Presidents and franchisees to provide a comprehensive financial reporting package. This position will conduct period and quarterly account reconciliation to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance. Incumbent should also be familiar with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Financial Reporting Manager is consistently focused on teamwork, willing to go above and beyond to achieve the goals of the organization.
Retail franchisor
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the financial forecasts, budgets, and report variances. Prepare and publish timely financial statements and year end closing with supporting analysis.
- Work with Senior Leadership to review financials, provide insight, suggest alternatives, identify trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Working closely with retail managers and Divisional Vice Presidents, this position will prepare, summarize, and distribute monthly P/L reports, which require familiarity with consolidation models broken down by division, region, district, store and be recognized as subject matter expert for analysis and problem solving.
- Continually improve reporting content by collecting and incorporating feedback from stakeholders.
- Directs the establishment and maintenance of financial policies, accounting principles, restaurant controls for the maintenance of accurate fiscal records and financial report preparation.
- Manage and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting in terms of sales tax, payroll tax, income tax reporting and business licenses. Establish regular reports designed to monitor and measure compliance.
- Review, establish, communicate, and enforce proactive internal controls involving restaurant cash reporting, expenses, banking deposits, and reconciliations.
- Manage preparation of journal entries, costs allocations, credit card reconciliation, and property tax.
- Supervise both exempt and non-exempt employees, providing leadership guidance and managing performance and accountability.
- Willingness and the ability to roll up their sleeve analyze and build systems to improve process.
- Proven ability to establish credibility, develop working relationships, ability to influence, and understand operational challenges.
- Upholds company standard policies and procedures.
- In the performance of job duties, will follow established safety procedures and policies.
- Ad hoc projects and reporting, as requested.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years in financial management position, preferably in the restaurant industry
- Public accounting experience is a plus
- Expert in Excel and data manipulation. Also proficient at other MS Office programs
- Highly organized and trustworthy with the ability to manage confidential information
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Knowledge of retail industry a plus, but not required.
- Minimal travel is expected with this position.
