Floating Child Care Assistant

Our preschool and childcare center is in search of qualified workers to help monitor and lead activities at the end of the day. We are searching for someone who can work 2-6pm, M-F as a floater between various classrooms dependent on the day of the week. Hours may be extended based on employee availability and staffing needs.
You will help kids engage in activities and games designed to promote analytical thinking skills, kindergarten readiness, and cooperation. Assist the children in working with others to resolve conflicts and encourage cooperation. You should also be an excellent role model for our students and our community.
This job will help you develop excellent skills and techniques in working with children as a mentor, teacher and coach that can benefit you in both your personal life and in future careers in education and child development.
To be successful as a teacher, you should be kind, creative, energetic, and able to encourage self-expression. Top candidates will possess a thorough understanding of the contextual factors that shape early childhood development.
Teacher Responsibilities:
- Planning and delivering lessons designed to facilitate students' social, emotional, spiritual and cognitive development.
- Encouraging self-expression through understanding, flexibility, and behavioral reinforcement.
- Tending to students' basic needs by feeding and dressing them. Assisting in the restrooms and changing them, potty training when appropriate.
- Mediating conflict between students to harbor social and emotional growth.
- Modeling appropriate behaviors, even when not on duty.
- Ensuring that the classroom remains safe and conducive to learning at all times.
- Communicate with families to gain insight into students' home lives.
- Tracking and informing parents of students' progress.
- Attending parent and staff meetings.
- Other duties as necessary.
Teacher Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Clear criminal record.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Warm, approachable disposition.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work during evenings as required.
- A passion for early childhood development.
Additional Desired qualities:
- Prior experience working with young children, preferably within a similar setting.
- CPR and/or basic first aid training is a plus.
- A CDA or degree in Early Childhood or an education related field
