SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
Assists the Quality Control Manager with monitoring operations to ensure production standards are met. Inspects parts for defects and makes recommendations to the production process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Inspect incoming material to see if they’re to specifications
- Inspect melted metal to ensure specifications
- Clean and visually inspect first article line checks
- Notify supervisor if defects are discovered
- Count and evaluate incoming scraped returns
- Evaluate internal generated scrap
- Use spectrometer, weighing devices, calipers, and ratt tester
- Must be physically present at the plant with regular and dependable attendance

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in the foundry with minimal office duties. Seldom use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Employee is exposed to Foundry atmospheric conditions such as fumes or airborne particles, noise, extreme weather, vibration, and moving mechanical parts. Note, personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when entering the plant to include ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel toe boots. Disposable masks are optional.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. Frequent standing and walking is required. Additionally, incumbent must use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds. Required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the potential for overtime on Friday’s, dependent upon work volume.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in Quality Control
- Understands blueprints
- Experience using calipers and gauges
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 2-5 years of experience in quality control in a manufacturing environment
- Industry certification
- CMM experience a plus
