FLOOR TECHNICIAN

OVERVIEW:

The Floor Technician works to maintain the facility’s highest practical level of environmental cleanliness.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for cleaning all carpeting

• Responsible for cleaning, scrubbing, waxing and buffing of floors in the following areas: Lobby, offices, all public bathrooms, hallways, beauty shop, Physio-therapy room, employee’s dining room, employee’s lavatories, lounge areas, medicine rooms and nurse’s stations

• The ability to prioritize work assignments in order to complete tasks in a timely manner

• The ability to clean and sanitize all assigned areas

• The ability to lift 10 to 15-pound buckets from cart to sink a minimum of 15 times a day

• The ability to push maid carts weighing up to 40 pounds in and out of elevators and down hallways

• The ability to bend at the knees, waist and neck at least 50 times a day to allow mopping in patient areas

• Must be able to understand and follow basic Infection Control procedures

• The ability to handle and mix chemicals safely and properly

• Must be able to respond to the paging system in the appropriate manner

• The ability to function with minimal supervision

• Must have knowledge of all department equipment

• Follow procedures in accordance with facility’s policies; federal, state and local regulations

QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• Must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral form) in a care setting with residents, families, staff.

• Able to respond productively and to handle additional tasks/projects as assigned.

• Ability to detect odors and see spots and spills.

• Ability to move housekeeping cart with cleaning equipment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the care center.

• Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.

• Incumbent may be required to work extended periods of time at a video display terminal.

• Incumbent may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

• This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.

• The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds.
