Food Bank Warehouse Assistant
Job description
The Food Bank Warehouse Assistant is a part of the ICS Food Distribution Team and provides assistance to ICS Food Bank programs, primarily at the ICS Northwest Food Bank, and periodically at our Mobile Food sites and Mobile Produce giveaway sites. Under the general direction of the Food Distribution Manager, this position supports the operations and volunteers related to ICS’s Food Banks and Mobile Food Programs.

Food Distribution Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the ICS Food Bank Coordinator to ensure timely and sufficient delivery of Community Food Bank Donations and other supply needs.
- Assist in deliveries and opening/closing procedures.
- Help schedule volunteers as needed on food distribution shifts.
- Assist with grocery store pickups.
- Request and train new volunteers.
- Coordinate client eligibility and intake process. This includes operating the client check-in computer when needed.
- Coordinate and supervise food distribution at multiple ICS Mobile Produce giveaway locations.
- Periodically drive Mobile Food Bank truck to food distribution sites.
- Supervise loading/unloading for the Mobile Food bank truck.
- Oversee operation of the Mobile Food Bank truck.
Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written skills; proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
- Must pass a background check.
- Previous work with volunteers preferred.
- Good working knowledge of a wide range of community organizations with food banks/pantries preferred.
- Bilingual, Spanish and English preferred.
Additional Duties:
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
- Attend ICS Board and Council meetings when requested.
- Participate in additional training when requested.
- Participate in ICS volunteer recruitment and recognition, fund raising, newsletter article writing, and other agency projects as needed.
Reports to: Food Distribution Manager
Supervises: Food Distribution Volunteers
Work Schedule: Part-time (20 hours per week) Tuesday & Thursday nights, Saturday mornings and weekday mornings as needed.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: Depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits provided include Simple IRA, generous Paid Time Off, and paid holidays.
