The ideal candidate for this position has previous experience expediting delicious food, enjoys working in a busy restaurant environment, a self-starter, ambitious, engaged and is capable of taking direction well and multitasking effectively. The Job:
Food Expeditor
Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring the efficient flow of orders from the waiters to the kitchen
  • Ensuring orders are being prepared with the correct priority
  • Assisting in the final preparation of dishes
  • Following the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
  • Labeling and stocking all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
  • Measuring ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking

Job brief
We are looking for a competent and ambitious Food expeditor to help keep a smooth workflow between the kitchen and the tables. You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes. You will work in a fast-paced environment to get proper orders out faster and more efficiently.
As food expeditor, you must have excellent communication skills and experience in a restaurant’s hectic setting. You must have enough stamina to be in constant motion and skills to coordinate and organize processes and people.
The goal is to make service faster and better to help enhance our quality and reputation.
Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient flow of orders from the waiters to the kitchen
  • Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority
  • Assist in the final preparation of dishes
  • Check dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation and temperature
  • Deliver orders to maintain fast service
  • Eliminate obstacles in service, food preparation lines or dishwashing
  • Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards and assist in cleaning
  • Transfer important information between the kitchen and the wait staff (e.g. when a customer has a particular request)
  • Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
  • Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
  • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift heavy items, up to 50lbs
  • Experience working in a restaurant kitchen
  • Must maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays
  • Available to perform many different tasks within the restaurant during each shift
  • The ability to learn quickly and carry out instructions, requesting clarification when needed
  • The ability to work as part of a team and build positive relationships with all restaurant employees
  • The ability to maintain a professional appearance at all times and display a positive and enthusiastic approach
  • The ability to be cross trained in all areas of the restaurant
  • Requisitions all products needed for production through supervisor/manager(s).
  • Maintains a clean, sanitary work area.
  • Receives on-going training in the following areas: personal hygiene, HACCP, hand washing, sanitation, temperature monitoring, fire and safety, equipment handling/cleaning, and safe work procedures.
  • Ensure all FoodService Partners and HHC policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
