Overview:
General Qualifications:

The Food Retail Supervisor is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision, beliefs, culture code and standards of conduct. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs and retreats. All staff are expected to join gatherings, which includes prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.

Position Objective:


The Food Retail Supervisor is responsible for leading staff, providing structure and organization throughout shifts, and ensuring that excellent service is provided to guests in a welcoming, seamless and professional manner. The ultimate aim is to bless and minister to guests and staff in a manner consistent with MHA's mission, vision and values.

Key Job Accountabilities
:

  • Lead, organize, direct, and coach staff in a large array of operations and services providing organized, efficient, safe, and friendly food service to all guests, improvising and providing solutions as problems and complications arise.
  • Attend to and complete all necessary shift details, applying a thorough working knowledge of food retail operations, events, and procedures.
  • Ensure Food Retail staff follow standards for cleaning and facility upkeep, merchandise, inventory, product stock, product rotation, product display, and storage in accordance with all state, federal and MHA food service standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee all POS processes including cash drawer opening and closing procedures, accounting deposits, and settling of all transactions and cash balances.
  • Participate in weekly food retail leadership meetings to address changes, discuss staff issues, develop food retail programs, engage in spiritual formation, and plan for upcoming operations.
  • Create and act on ministry opportunities toward food retail staff and guests.
  • Enforce and abide by all state, federal and MHA, state and federal labor standards, policies and procedures, providing corrective coaching as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
:

Direct supervisory responsibility for all personnel actions during their scheduled shifts for Fountain Clerks, Espresso Cart Baristas, and Summer Staff employees.
Qualifications:

Education:


  • High School Graduate (some college education preferred).

Work Experience:


  • At least 2 years of customer service experience, preferably in food service.
  • Some previous supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
:

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure and adapt to circumstances and changing priorities while under pressure.
  • Ability to motivate, encourage, develop, and minister to staff, actively facilitating staff growth professionally, personally and spiritually.
  • Ability to work effectively with a large variety of co-workers, guests, and other MHA staff.
  • Ability to arrive at creative solutions as challenges arise.
  • Ability to prioritize various tasks and needs and provide direction to staff.
  • Must be highly detail oriented.
  • Ability to learn how to prepare all food items in a consistent and sanitary manner.
  • Ability to operate all aspects of MHA’s POS systems and food service equipment in accordance with safe operating procedures and processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Physical Demands:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work in slightly congested conditions around hot machinery.
  • Requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time, squatting, twisting, and the ability to lift/carry 30lbs.

Additional Requirements :
  • Must agree to and comply with MHA’s employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and use of personal vehicles for business purposes.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, summers, special events, and holidays.
  • Must be spiritually mature and passionate about helping others grow in their Christian journey.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA's Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation or valid work permit as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
