Position Summary

This role is specifically focused on Distribution Center and Manufacturing Plant Food Safety and Quality.

Promote food safety and product quality concepts by providing the leadership needed to develop and administer the Kroger Co. Food Safety & Quality Management System. Essential Job Functions

• Assess and approve new and existing vendors, food and non-food safety programs to ensure compliance with Kroger, federal, and state food safety requirements
• Conduct facility visits to assess food and non-food safety and quality issues and provide guidance to improve product quality plans, as needed
• Manage product quality audits and work with vendors on improvement plans to address audit results
• Monitor quality of third-party manufactured products by analyzing customer comments and partnering with vendor facilities to resolve product quality issues
• Support supplier improvement by establishing, maintaining, and reporting food and non-food safety and quality metrics to stakeholders
• Manage and ensure proper food and non-food safety and product quality vendor documentation, ensuring robust and complete product specifications and regulatory-driven label changes
• Maintain supplier expectations manual and communicate changes to incorporate food safety and quality requirements
• Support internal and external commercialization efforts
• Act as point of contact for recall/withdrawal support, including facilitation of the RCA process, ensuring corrective actions are implemented, effective and maintained
• Monitor and keep abreast of food and non-food safety regulatory developments and industry practices
• Travel independently (up to 25%) to supplier facilities to support as needed
• Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in food science, dairy science, bakery science, food microbiology or related field
• HACCP certification
• 2+ years of progressive food manufacturing, food safety and quality experience
• Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA)
• Proven application of regulatory requirements and guidance into plant policies
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with frontline employees and peers
• Proficient with product quality management systems

Pay: $70,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
