JOB SUMMARY:

Performs various fingerprint managing operations under the supervision of the Forensic Supervisor, or Division Commander, which requires judgment, experience, and high degree of public relations skills. Provides general office support for Unified Police Forensic Unit staff, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality related to case information.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Fingerprint Duties:

  • Provide public fingerprinting services through use of the LiveScan instrument or traditional ink to include the collection of fees, recording data, and providing feedback to the public.
  • Provide Department required fingerprint services to include but not limited to employment, criminal investigations, sex offender registry, and BCI access.
  • Provide fingerprint services to other law enforcement agencies as required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Henry Fingerprint classification system.
  • Scanning and archiving fingerprint records.
  • Facilitate the completion of expungement requests.

Office Duties:

  • Receives inquiries and requests for service from office employees, other agency personnel and general public by phone or in person.
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned to include but not limited to receiving deliveries, mail, and services.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and safe environment for visitors and staff according to Forensic Unit and Department policies.
  • Safeguards police records and ensures that any information is disseminated in accordance with policy, statutes and law.
  • Provide occasional assistance under the supervision of Forensic Analysts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 6 months clerical or customer service experience.
  • Basic computer skills.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION

  • This is a part time position, working 20 hours a week, Monday through Friday, excluding UPD Holidays.
