Position Description

The Front Counter & Archives Clerk, is a non-Civil Service position located with the Criminal Court Clerk's Office. This position will perform a variety of clerical duties that require retrieving and maintaining various files and information, as well as assisting with expungement paperwork and public inquiries.

Working hours: Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Typical Duties

  • Performs various routine clerical duties for a department of the Criminal Court Clerk’s Office.
  • Receives, sorts, and distributes files.
  • Serve as lobby representative and/or primary point of contact for the office.
  • Forwards files and information to the proper person.
  • Researches records to provide information to the public and coworkers.
  • May prepare appropriate court documents and expungement paperwork.
  • Assist with archive management, including travel to and from off-site storage facility.
  • Assist with Trial Court docket preparation.
  • Research, verify and process an assortment of documents, including orders for restricted driver licenses and expungements.
  • Physical requirements: Climb warehouse ladders; lift up to 50 pounds

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

LICENSE REQUIRED
Valid Driver license

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience working in MS Office products, Outlook and Word
  • Experience providing customer service
