Disabled Persons Action Organization is now hiring two full time direct support professionals to work both our Free Standing Respite House and Recreation Program, both located in Lowville.

This is a full time position at 35 hours weekly. The rate of pay is $15.00 hourly, and a shift differential of $0.50 for any overnight hours worked. Benefits and paid time off will be available after a successful 90-day introductory period. Please note, as of 01/04/2021 all employees of Disabled Persons Action Organization are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Free Standing Respite House is open Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, requiring staff present at all times throughout the weekend. The free standing respite program is for a developmentally disabled person of any age. An individual may stay for as little as an hour, overnight, for the weekend, a week, etc. and staff try to make the individual's stay as much fun, as relaxing, and as much like home as possible.

The Recreation Program takes place on weeknight evenings, and sometimes weekend events are planned. This program allows each individual to benefit from recreational and leisure time activities with their peers. Examples of activities include, but are not limited to: crafts, bowling, attending community events, dances, holiday parties, etc.

Benefits: After a successful 90-day introductory period, benefits and paid time off will be available.
