Preschool Teacher Job Description

SUMMARY of the Primary Responsbilities

Responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program for young children. Demonstrates the purpose and mission statement of our school, “Nurture children academically and spiritually toward a life of witness and service in Christ.”

PROGRAM: ACADEMIC/SOCIAL/PHYSICAL

• Share God’s Word daily throughout all curriculum areas
• Develop a program for young children within the preschool.
• Create lesson plans for all subject areas.
• Promote literacy and early education.
• Develop activities to stimulate the children.
• Create arts and crafts for children.
• Communicate effectively with parents.
• Discuss development of the child with parents and identify areas of concern.
• Manage the responsibilities of the preschool aide.
• Communicate with the teacher assistant effectively.
• Establish procedures for inside and outside the classroom; including hallway, gym, playground, bathrooms, etc.
• Become familiar with emergency procedures and protocol.
• Clean equipment and toys regularly.
• Provide weekly schedules/announcements for children and parents.
• Supervise children at all times.
• Comfort children in times of need.
• Encourage nutritious snacks and lunches.
• Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with morning preschool teacher

Education:

• Bachelor's (Required)

Experience:

• Early childhood education: 1 year (Preferred)
• Classroom experience: 1 year (Preferred)
