EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Completion of sixty (60) college credit hours at an accredited college or university

CERTIFICATION :
Paraprofessional certification as required by the District and the State Board in one of the following categories: Educational Aide I; Educational Aide II; or Educational Aide III
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY
:
Responsible for student learning while maintaining a climate of respect and fairness for all students in accordance with the goals and directives of the campus where assigned.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Follows all district and individual school policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching dictates.
2. Implements lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
3. Organizes students for effective instruction and ensure continuity of the academic program.
4. Maintains appropriate records including checking test papers, recording grades, student assignments for homework, projects and the necessary clerical work required to maintain student records for a teacher who is absent.
5. Consults, as appropriate, with the principal or department/grade level chair, before initiating additional instruction or other procedures not specified in the lesson plans.
6. Ensures the adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
8. Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
9. Becomes familiar with posted fire exit maps, as well as all emergency procedures.
10. Seeks the guidance of the Principal or other campus administrators when unusual situations arise.
11. Maintains confidentiality of information.
12. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
