Position Summary: The Unit Supervisor provides the leadership to plan organize and implement the delivery of behavioral health treatment services to individuals suffering from acute psychiatric disorders.
Develops and maintains organizational structure, systems, and milieu. He/She formulates, monitors, and reports needs and outcomes. Responsible for establishing and meeting program goals and objectives, creating and implementing clinical operations, referral development, staff retention and education, scheduling and monitoring equipment and educational needs. Makes and enforces decisions regarding the allocation of resources and delegates responsibility to assure quality patient care in keeping with legal, ethical, regulatory, and other standards of performance.

Nature and Scope: The Unit Supervisor will maintain professional and open communications with co-workers and physicians. They will demonstrate effective communication with patient and family members. They are accountable for cooperating with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives and maintain employee, interdepartmental and public relations. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality and complies with departmental and facility policy and procedures. He/She demonstrates effective verbal communications skills including phone manners.
The Unit Supervisor is accountable for assisting in maintaining a safe and clean environment in all patient care areas. The Unit Supervisor is responsible to maintain and encourage a positive and professional working relationship with employees, patients and families- responding to their needs with promptness and empathy. They should follow the chain of command, giving or expressing criticism of hospital personnel, procedures or policies in private and in a constructive manner promoting good will to and for the hospital and fellow employees.
The Unit Supervisor may participate on committees and in services at departmental and hospital levels as assigned or volunteer. The Unit Supervisor is expected to identify educational needs of staff members and develop in-services and trainings to fulfill need.
Is accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer, Administration.
Position Requirements:
Licensed RN in the State of Oklahoma in good standing, nursing experience in administrative and psychiatric nursing.
- Good leadership skills, knowledge of behavioral health and billing practices.
- Must demonstrate emotional maturity and sound judgment with the ability to perform under stress and accept constructive feedback to improve performance;

- Self motivated and self directed requiring minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention needs of individuals with behavioral health issues, DSM IV-TR criteria
Unit Supervisor Duties: interact with co-workers on unit and other departments in a professional manner; accurate, complete and timely documentation; facilitation and completion of activities with appropriate documentation.
