DUTIES:
Under regular supervision, performs responsible to intermediate technical work updating and maintaining property records.
KNOWLEDGE OF JOB:
Updates tax records; determines legality of property transfers; ensures accuracy of records and data base; produces real estate maps; assists citizens.Knowledgeable in the principles of organization, research, and implementation of responsibilities. Knowledgeable in the methods, policies and procedures of the department pertaining to specific duties of the position. Has comprehensive knowledge of the terminology used within the department. Has good understanding of GIS computers and other computer applications. Able to communicate effectively with a variety of public and private groups as prescribed. Knows of the reports and records which must be prepared, processed and maintained in order to meet the requirements of the department. Able to read, understand and interpret blue prints and related maps and charts. Understands the legal documents utilized within the department. Has the mathematical ability to handle required calculations. Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of computers. Able to comprehend and complete detailed oral and written instructions and daily work assignments efficiently and in a timely manner as prescribed. Able to offer assistance and training to fellow employees as necessary. Has good organizational, technical, and human relations skills. Performs related tasks as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including a computer, adding machine, copier, light table, color plotter, laser printer, workstation, telephone, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Work involves climbing, bending, stooping and reaching for short periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 5 to 10 pounds. Requires the ability to read a variety of reports and records including deeds, surveys, telephone messages, wills, time cards, etc. Requires the ability to talk, hear, record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in the use of geographic information systems Completion of course in computer aided drafting recommended. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Possession of or ability to obtain fundamentals of mapping certification.
