Project Overview:

SFI is looking for a candidate that will qualifying hydrographic workflows and products for a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration contract for the Hydrographic Surveys Division (HSD).


Primary Responsibilities:

Will be involved with all phases of qualifying hydrographic workflows and products. This includes design, development, testing, and documenting of the workflows. This also includes the processing of hydrographic survey data using sonar, lidar, echosounders, oceanographic instruments, GNSS, data processing systems, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Will be working with different data formats and workflows that require some level of scripting or programming to fully understand and implement well.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • BS in hydrography, ocean mapping, physical science, marine science, oceanography, computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, related discipline, or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of experience with data analysis and an understanding of GIS and data management techniques.
  • Experience with application software including Python, PostgreSQL, QGIS, ArcGIS, and/or CARIS.
  • Programming experience in Python; experience in analyzing, planning, acquiring, integrating, documenting, and disseminating ocean and coastal geospatial data and derivative products (including GIS); and, experience developing mapping standards and techniques, and improving data management and access, desired.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

  • In order to meet the clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a US Public Trust background investigation for access to the client site and computing systems. You must have lived in the US for the past three (3) years.
  • As a Federal Contractor, all Spatial Front Employees are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and provide proof of vaccination prior to the first date of employment.
  • All candidates will be subject to a complete background check to include, but not limited to Criminal History, Education Verification, Professional Certification Verification, Verification of Previous Employment and Credit History.

  • The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $83,000 annually
