Description

Manage strategic breakthrough categories to deliver year over year Quality Cost Logistics Development Management (QCLDM) performance improvement and create value through a supplier base. Serve as the industry expert for a particular category. Deliver Global Leverage with Local Service Excellence.

Job Duties

Major Role: - Reporting directly to the Global Procurement Manager, this role is accountable for the development, communication, and implementation of a worldwide sourcing strategy for Caterpillar’s electronics category. Collaborate with Site and Product Managers to create a competitive advantage for our customers and the enterprise by developing, optimizing, and integrating a world-class supply base, while delivering local service excellence. Leadership: - This person will recruit, develop and manage a high performing, global team of supplier development engineers and purchasing professionals who will develop the supply base capable of meeting QCLDM requirements. Reporting directly to this position are Buyers and Supplier Development Engineers. Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse global organization and recognize employee excellence.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree – or equivalent experience required.
Complex strategic relationship management experience required
Well-developed communication and negotiation skills
Lean manufacturing, demonstrated experience in reducing transactional waste and waste in suppliers’ processes.

Able to acquire and influence an understanding of governmental, environmental, political, and geographic factors that influence a supply base.

Top Candidates will also have

Previous 6 Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Sponsor experience preferred

Global sourcing knowledge and experience required. Experience in additional disciplines preferred.

Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g.; Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified in Integration Resource Management (CIRM), or comparable International certification.

Affiliation with Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), or comparable professional purchasing organization, preferred.

The location for this position is Peoria, IL

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Extensive travel will be required, potentially up to 50% of the time.
