What You Will Contribute To Altos
The Altos Institute of Medicine will capture knowledge generated about cell health and programming and develop transformative medicines. We are seeking a highly experienced biotech/pharma drug developer and biotechnology executive to be one of the founding senior leaders of the Altos Institute of Medicine. The SVP, Development Sciences reports to the Chief Medical Officer and will design and build an organization responsible for drug discovery and lead optimization.
The successful candidate is a demonstrated strategic leader who builds high-performing teams, and drives innovation to develop new medicines. The SVP, Development Sciences will build a scientific and technical organization that brings together a deep understanding of disease biology and pharmacology, has proven expertise in current and emerging technologies, and has the ability and passion to generate scientific insights and demonstrates an innovative approach to drug development. The newly created Development Sciences organization at Altos will be comprised of subject matter experts across all disciplines related to drug discovery. Our success depends upon a culture of intense collaboration, enthusiasm, and openness. The SVP, Development Science is a key member of teams that span multiple therapeutic areas.
As a member of the Institute of Medicine Leadership Team, you will play a key role in developing, shaping and implementing the overall technical strategy of Altos.
- Envisions and leads interactions with scientists in the three Altos Science Institutes as new concepts are considered for translation.
- Oversees all aspects of drug discovery and optimization
- Create an innovative scientific environment that combines creativity and collaboration, together with excellence in execution
- Founding member of the Institute of Medicine Leadership Team
- Seek, develop, and maintain external partnerships that add value, create flexibility, access expertise and drive enhanced returns for Altos
- Lead and motivate teams to develop and implement scientific strategies and achieve project-specific goals for investigational therapeutics in preclinical and all phases of clinical development
- Build a team culture that promotes continuous improvement, ownership, professional growth, and inclusion
- Manage budgets and hiring plans for your team
Who You Are
Qualifications
- MD/PhD degree and at least 15 years of experience in drug discovery
- Proven capability to lead, motivate and inspire in a diverse, global, cross-functional structure and commit to diversity, equity and belonging. A strong record of developing and mentoring excellent leaders
- A critical thinker with the ability to analyze possibilities and solutions and make pragmatic trade-offs, as well as a big picture innovator who can identify possibilities and is comfortable with ambiguity
- Clear and influential communicator. Exceptional influencing skills that demonstrate strong thought partnership and create effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to build and connect strong teams and build community across Altos
