Scope of Job
Graduate Research Assistant will work on a program/project within UTRGV’s Center for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Advancement (SARA).
Student will work on a program/project providing technical assistance which may include research, outreach and coordinating special projects requiring independent decision-making, advanced coursework/degree, and/or the ability to work with minimal supervision. Duties are related to the student’s field of study and will vary depending upon the program/project assigned responsibilities.
Based on the specific assignment the duties may include:
- Assists with the implementation of activities relating to a specific program/project that require the application of technical or complex subject matter knowledge.
- Provides specialized computer support that requires highly complex computer knowledge and skills.
- Conducts counseling, analysis of data, editing manuscripts for publication, preparation of material for dissemination, and/or application of budgeting.
- Project/Program may require ability to drive a car for local or distant travel for client consultation, training, meetings or small-scale farming on site demonstrations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
- Must be a full-time graduate student (9 hours during the Fall or Spring semester and 6 hours during Summer months)
- Able to work well with diverse groups of people
- Detail and Analytical oriented
- Effective communication skills for interacting with staff/faculty
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, preferably in Excel

Biology Major.
