The Division of University Communications highlights the important messages, stories and people of Catholic University, while managing and maintaining the University’s reputation and brand identity. The marketing department assists by developing and implementing social media, digital marketing, design and traditional advertising strategies targeting our key university audiences. Our goal is to advance brand awareness; attract talented, diverse students; promote our research enterprise; and support fundraising and alumni engagement.

Under the direction of the Director of Creative Services, the graphic designer will work to conceptualize and deliver a wide range of print and digital assets including, but not limited to: brochures, infographics, logos, programs, booklets, posters, invitations, promotional materials, signage, as well as various multimedia graphics for web, social media, and email marketing.

Responsibilities:

* Translate strategic marketing goals into end-products that visually align with The Catholic University of America’s value proposition, brand guidelines and best practices for achieving results

* Conceptualize, design, and produce a wide variety of print and digital assets

* Serve as liaison with campus partners and vendors to ensure quality and adherence to the University's branding standards

* Manage projects and communicate directly with stakeholders in a professional and timely fashion

* Gather printing quotes and handle the ordering and delivery of printed materials

* Prepare and package all design files and keep an orderly archive of projects

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree

* 1-3 years of experience designing print and digital assets for a marketing office, advertising agency or design firm

* Ability to use current computer technology, including both PC and Apple platforms and proficiency with the following: macOS and iOS, android and related equipment and design software; Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and InDesign; User interface software including Adobe XD and Figma, familiarity with HTML, CSS and JavaScript; AfterEffects and motion graphics software

* Exceptional demonstration of the use of typography, color, rhythm, balance, scale, texture, shape, image, sound and motion to clearly communicate with and engage audiences
* Basic knowledge of paper and printing process
* Creation of print and digital assets, social media and production processes, including designing across a wide variety of media
* Animation and motion graphics
* Ability to produce creative solutions to complex problems
* Illustration ability a plus
* Actively creative and hungry to learn more and apply skills to produce award winning work
