Job description
SUMMARY:
Assists supervisor in directing and training production and/or extrusion employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates shift start up to insure minimal scrap and maximum efficiency.
Aids and assists operators in troubleshooting production and equipment problems, and initiates corrective action.
Provides and coordinates operator training.
Relieves operators for break, lunch or may be required to fill in when regular operators are absent.
The above duties are in addition to those of an operator.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus two years full-time work experience desirable, preferably in a manufacturing environment; or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, memos, standard operating procedures and operator instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors, managers and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to plot information on SPC charts and perform required calculations to determine control limits or other related information.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Fork Truck Operators License as required to operate a forklift.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
