POSITION HAF-Senior Program Associate

About the Center

The Center for NYC Neighborhoods (the “Center”) is a New York not-for-profit that promotes and protects affordable homeownership in New York so that middle- and working-class families are able to build strong, thriving communities. Working with public and private partners, the Center and its affiliates meet and support the diverse needs of homeowners throughout New York State by offering free, high-quality direct services, support of community based housing counselors, policy research and advocacy, and affordable lending products.

Position Summary

The Center is working with New York State to implement the New York State Homeowner Assistance Fund, a program that is helping thousands of New Yorkers who are struggling due to the economic effects of the pandemic to save their homes. We are recruiting for a Senior Program Associate to join our NYS HAF program operations team that is dedicated to delivering aid to vulnerable families quickly, efficiently, and with compassion and care. We are looking for a creative, organized and detail-oriented problem solver who is passionate about serving vulnerable and at-risk populations.

Sustainable Neighborhoods LLC, a CDFI and subsidiary of the Center (“SN”), was selected by New York State’s Homes and Community Renewal (“HCR”) to administer the New York State Homeowner Assistance Fund (“NYS HAF”), using resources allocated to New York State under the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to deliver financial support and services to homeowners affected by COVID-19.

The Senior Program Associate will report to the Center’s Homeowner Assistance Fund Director, and work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders to help NYS HAF deliver home-saving resources primarily to low-to-moderate income and socially disadvantaged households.


Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:
Project management: Coordinate multiple projects critical for delivering aid to homeowners, and manage the interdependencies within projects.

  • Operational Coordination: coordinate the operations management team’s efforts with servicers, subcontractors, technology partners, legal, finance, policy, and communications;
  • Monitoring and oversight: help monitor and steer NYS HAF program progress, develop and maintain tracking systems to record, analyze, and report on key operational functions;
  • Project management: coordinate multiple projects critical for delivering aid to homeowners, and manage the interdependencies within projects;
  • Program support: provide program and administrative support to NYS HAF team;
  • Drafting reports, memoranda, and other written work products for internal and external stakeholder;.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the NYS HAF team to implement and continuously improve practices, protocols, and tools;
  • Other duties reasonably related to the position may be required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Prior experience in non-profit or governmental program management is preferred
  • Prior experience and knowledge in foreclosure prevention, mortgage lending, loss mitigation, and disaster assistance are plusses
  • Problem-solver with good judgment and sharp analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Passionate about promoting affordable homeownership and an equitable New York
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset through resilience, engaging in expansive thinking, and showing curiosity
  • Work collaboratively by demonstrating the ability to work in teams, exhibiting emotional intelligence, and having positive energy

Salary-$57,500-$62,000
