PTCA has eight plants in PA, OH, IN, IL and MO; and its products are used globally, in products made by its customers such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Jeep, and Honda.

Job Summary:

This operator sets up and operates cutoff machines and end-finishing equipment. Individuals operate machinery in a safe manner, in such a way to produce parts according to instructions in such a way as to produce parts that are statistically within specified control limits.

This employee will also be required to be able to set up and operate the cutoff machine and end-finisher with equal skill. This employee will be required to work overtime as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Receives instructions from Supervisor or Lead person regarding work assignment.

2. Interprets instructions; plans and determines working procedures and course of action.

• Sets up and operates machines to cut, face and chamfer materials to close tolerances and specified surface finishes.
• Measures process statistically with the aid of the Data Myte automated data collection system and adjusts process in order to produce parts that indicate the process is statistically in control.

5. Completes all required paperwork thoroughly - including

production reports, tooling usage reports, and scrap reports.

6. Clean up work area at the end of each shift.

The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and Responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTCA Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.

Qualifications:

• Complete the SPC program with a minimum of 70% correct answers.
• Successfully perform a complete machine change-over. The machines must be set-up in such a way that parts are run in control.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Preparations for this position include at a minimum a high school diploma and the ability to use measuring equipment including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, snap gages and indicators. The operator must be able to stand continually for 8 to 12 hours per day. The operator may be required to use portable power tools, read written instructions, follow control plans and work orders.

Skills and Abilities:

Must be computer literate and able to work with computer programs and machining equipment. Close attention to detail is required for this position in order to ensure safety and produce confirming parts. If safety and quality are not taken seriously or incumbent does not operate the equipment safely and produce parts that are statistically within specified control limits, he/she will be subject to disciplinary action including suspension and/or dismissal.
