I. POSITION: Head Lifeguard

II. DEPARTMENT: Aquatics

III. JOB SUMMARY: Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of Club members and guests by providing a safe and clean environment, preventing, and responding to emergencies, and offering a fun and best in class member experience.

IV. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversees, manages, and holds accountable all lifeguards to ensure job duties are being performed up to par and to ensure the safety of the aquatics area.
• Knows, understands, and consistently applies the safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatics area as per Greensboro Country Club standards.
• Knows, understands, and can teach all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with Greensboro Country Club policies and procedures. Maintains accurate records as needed.
• Assists in the planning and execution of hiring and training of staff.
• Attends all staff meetings and trainings.
• Maintain positive relationships with the members, participants, and other staff.
• Models relationship building skills in all interactions.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.

V. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must be at least 16 years of age by the start date.
• Demonstrates leadership, customer service and decision-making skills
• Attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in process of unsafe behaviors
• Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
• Administer First Aid, CPR, emergency, and other safety procedures, as required.
• Proficient swimming ability

VI. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer
• 1 + year(s) experience as a lifeguard preferred.
• 1 + year(s) experience managing others or leading a team

VII. REPORTS TO: Director of Fitness, Health, and Wellness

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour

Experience:

• Lifeguard: 1 year (Preferred)
