Who are We Recruiting?
In addition to duties outlined below , the ideal candidate will be expected to refer and link people to direct service providers, including informal counseling. Maintain resource information to provide to connections and provide culturally appropriate health education and information. Advocate for individual and community needs, including identification of gaps and existing strengths and actively building individual and community capacity.
To perform these duties, the Workforce Institute Placement Division, Office of Preparedness and Response is seeking an energetic and experienced individual to join our dynamic team as the Health Preparedness Coordinator. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment; a leader who is able to work effectively with a team to ensure achievement of outcomes. This future employee will be expected to deliver a high level of customer support and service. The final candidate will need to have the right complement of skills, personality, and professionalism.

MAJOR DUTIES:
Responsible for Office of Preparedness and Response health education curriculum, health literacy workshops and training deployment to community stakeholders and promoting health wellness/resources.

BRIEF
DESCRIPTION:
  • Design, implementation, and training facilitation of health initiatives to improve awareness around social determinants and COVID 19 outreach and community resources.
  • Document all client encounters and contacts made on behalf of clients; maintain comprehensive electronic client files, assessment, and other training documents required for reporting purposes.
  • Document activities, service plans, and outcomes achieved by client in an effective manner.
  • Prepare advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation documents as assigned, including manuals, brochures, reports, budget documents, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Evaluate, design, present, recommend and disseminate culturally appropriate health education information and materials.
  • Oversee health-related programs on community health education, health literacy and related programming significantly impacting individuals’ health and wellness.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in public health, mental health, counseling, social work, or a related field; and minimum of 2 years of related experience. Knowledge of principles and practices of public health, social determinants of health, health equity, as well as health education; strategic and operational planning.

Previous experience in health promotion planning, implementation, and evaluation. Experience in community organizing/advocacy; collaborating with a diverse group of community partners or experience working with a health coalition. Experience in health communications, demonstrated ability to synthesize and accurately and effectively convey key information, orally and in writing, that is tailored to the target audience. Must be proficient with computers and possess strong oral and written communication skills

Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point), data management systems, and the ability to use/learn electronic time-keeping program. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds.
