Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator II
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Field Operations
Reports to: Dittmer Ditching Field Superintendent
Summary:
This position, reporting to the Field Superintendent, operate and handle motorized apparatus such as bulldozers, scrapers, excavators and cranes, as well as non-motorized apparatus such as dump boxes and loader buckets and various other earth moving equipment. This position is capable of working independently with little to no supervision, operating and performing their job duties on remotes sites or sites with little to no other persons. Capable of managing the safe operation of equipment in areas that have unknown ground surface situations. Must be able hold all proper certifications and a Class A license. This position would be expected to plan jobs in collaboration with Dittmer Ditching management as well as perform necessary prep and inspection of equipment prior to job commencement in addition to closing out jobs and performing necessary duties related to equipment close out duties when a job is finished and be ready for another job.

Education/Experience:
Any specific education requirements – HS diploma
2 years Minimum experience in earth excavating field
Must be a team player, assertive, and outgoing, customer focused and high energy;
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, contracts, bid documents, engineering jargons, and other legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to deliver financial quotations and specification information sheets to proscribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills needed.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Basic engineering understanding of hydraulics, electronics, torque and horsepower calculations, performance matching. Ability to read and interpret financial reporting structures
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer and Technology Skills:
Good basic computer skills and technology understanding for purpose of technology being used for logistics and on equipment .
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Capable of overseeing the safety of other less experienced field laborers on job site and giving direction related to job needs. No direct management oversite of personnel
Work Environment:
Outside working conditions that can entail any type of weather. Understanding and experience working and performing job duties in strenuous and severe weather situations is preferred.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee will regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear in extreme weather and earth situations. This position has some physical demand to perform it properly and person must be able to withstand all type of weather temperature and environment situations to perform the job duties as required. Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
This position may require the ability to lift at least 50 pounds. An example would be a machine housing door to gain access to the engine. Hearing protection will be required while an engine is running. Safety goggles and hard hats are required at many job sites. All proper PPE must be worn at all times when necessary.
This position may be required to work non-traditional hours. This can be a high stress level position that requires a special individual that may consider themselves as if this was their own company. This position may require overnight stays and long travel away from your home from time to time.
