POSITION SUMMARY:

• Plans, organizes and directs department activities with regard to personnel, performance standards, policy and objectives for the HIM department. Coordinates and facilitates department staff and daily work assignments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for all employees and all functions of the HIM Department including but not limited to: staffing, training, maintenance of personnel files, direct supervision, departmental communication, hiring of new employees, monthly staff meetings and /or in-services
• Plan, organize and direct department activities
• Responsible for oversite, training and Direction of Coding/Clinical Documentation Improvement Staff
• Compile daily, monthly and quarterly reports, PI, OSHPD, Medical StaffDeficiencies, Quality Review, Death Register, Patient Index, Physician Index, Disease Index, and Procedure Index.
• Participate in the budgetary process through the identification of required equipment, supplies, and resources for operation of the HIM Department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school graduate or equivalent,
• RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CDIP Certification Preferred, excellent organization skills.
• 3-5 years management/supervisory experience in Health Information.
• Proficient in ICD 10 CM/PCS, CPT coding.
• Proficient in Rules and regulations for MS-DRG and APR-DRG coding. Experience in application of State and Federal regulations regarding release of information for medical and psychiatric medical records. Understanding of Federal HIPAA regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $64,480.00 per year
