ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Position Summary: Assists the General Manager & Restaurant Managers in directing and organizing the employees of RD RNNR to provide a unique and memorable dining experience for each of our guests.

Essential Job Functions: (Key tasks and Responsibilities)

  • Assist the General Manager & Restaurant Managers in interviewing, selecting, training, supervising and counseling staff.
  • Managing the floor during meal periods to ensure that all RD RNNR standards and steps of service are met during all guests’ interactions.
  • Ensuring proper opening and closing functions are being completed each shift by each position.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the staff.
  • Observe staff’s performance and encourage improvement where necessary.
  • Ensure staffing is appropriate & accurate based on business levels. Organize and conduct pre-shift and departmental meetings communicating pertinent information and updates to the staff.
  • Communicate with guests and employees using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information.
  • Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy restaurant activity, serving as a role model for all staff and guests.
  • Ensure basic standard operating procedures are in place and are in compliance with Federal, state, local and RD RNNR’s own practices and standards.
  • Ensuring that all steps of services, as outlined in training materials, are being followed on a daily basis by each FOH position.
  • Assist the General Manager & Restaurant Manager to resolve problems to the satisfaction of any and all involved parties (including staff and guests).
  • Assist the General Manager & Restaurant Manager in the organization & execution of special events in the restaurant.
  • Ensure that all proper cash handling procedures are met on a daily basis.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all restaurant areas on a continueous basis.
  • Solicit feedback from guests concerning the service and food & beverage offerings in all outlets.
  • Assist the General Manager & Restaurant Manager with monthly beverage inventory and quarterly china/glass/silver/linen inventory.

Job Requirements: (Minimum qualifications considered to perform essential job functions)

  • Must be able to work up to 6 days a week on a weekly basis.
  • Must have a good sense of balance, be able to bend, kneel, stoop, reach and squat on a frequent basis to obtain and store food, beverage items, smallwares and service equipment.
  • Must be able to constantly stand and exert well-placed mobility for a period of eight + hours in length.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and listen attentively to your direct report, employees, and guests.
  • Must be able to continuously use fingers to bilaterally operate POS equipment, prepare and serve food/beverage items. Reports to work as indicated on the work schedule and in the correct uniform.
  • Practices positive personal hygiene and cleanliness habits during all work shifts.
  • Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role; must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire
  • Proven customer service experience as a manager
  • Extensive food and beverage knowledge, with ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
  • Acute financial management skills
  • BS degree in Business Administration; hospitality management or culinary schooling is a plus
  • Creating a positive team atmosphere among team members that encourages accountability and achieves the highest standards of food, beverage, service and hospitality
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
  • Ability to successfully pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, holidays, and weekends
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
