Position Purpose

As a member of the health care team, the Service Line Manager is responsible for the overall direction of Home Health Services through the application of management principles and clinical knowledge to ensure quality services and departmental operations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapy or other allied health program.
  • Licensed by the State of Illinois under the appropriate practive act for their clinical discipline, when applicable, and a minimum of four years experience in the therapy field preferred.
  • Membership in the professional associateion representing their area of expertise is encourged.
  • Proven experience of interpersonal and leadership skills to manage a diverse team of clinicans.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated skill level consistent with a general understanding of therapy approaches for a wide range of client/patient age groups and medical conditions.
  • Current certification in CPR and other service line specific competencies.
  • Management experience including leadership, supervision, financial, organizational and analytical functions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Approve all supply, material and equipment requests to minimize duplication and the resultant cost.
  • Participate in applicant interviews and assist in the selection of Home Health personnel.
  • Analyze and report statistical information from Home Health chart audits.
  • Organize the functions of the service, gather data, evaluate the information, define goals, develop an operational plan and implement the plan.
  • Develop agendas and conduct staff meetings with the assistance of the Office Manager.
  • Maintain and periodically, submit updates for Policy and Procedure and Clinical Protocol Manuals.
  • Maintain and, as required, update all Home Health job descriptions using an approved format.
  • Keep apprised of Illinois/Medicare regulations pertaining to Home Health and communicate any changes to therapists and office personnel.
  • Develop orientation and training schedules for all new Home Health personnel.
  • Ensure therapists and office personnel follow all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Keep Home Health personnel informed of standards and regulatory changes effecting day to day operations.
  • Oversee clerical personnel on the functions of scheduling, audits, and day to day procedures.
  • Create an envrioment to nuture and stimulatea the professional growth and staff development.
  • Establish and implement clinical competencies.
  • Serve as the clinical liason between staff and Home Health agencies.
  • Perform job performance reviews on Home Health personnel.
