Chamisal made history in 1973 as the first winery in Edna Valley to plant grapevines. Just 10 minutes from downtown San Luis Obispo, our tasting room offers sustainably produced wines painted with gorgeous natural scenery. Chamisal Vineyards has been SIP (Sustainability in Practice) certified in the vineyards since 2010 and we were the second-ever winery to be SIP-certified in 2016, though the winery has always gone above and beyond the requirements to maintain the health of our vineyards and improve biodiversity in the area.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Hospitality Associate is responsible for ensuring that visitors to Chamisal Vineyards receive impeccable customer service and are left with a positive image of the winery. The Hospitality Associate will provide education, wine samples and conversation with customers that is professional and appropriate.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following reflects the essential functions for this job. Other tasks may be assigned from time to time. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Greet all visitors with enthusiasm and create a memorable experience
  • Lead guests through wine tasting flights – educating them about the Chamisal story, wines, and brand.
  • Work towards developing relationships with guests to convert into Wine Club members and also building relationships with current Wine Club members
  • Strong ability to sell wine and various club memberships to all types of customers
  • Effectively suggest and sell wine, with the ability to “up-sell”
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness of facilities
  • Provide exceptional service and go the extra mile for all guests visiting Chamisal Vineyards

  • Daily Tasting Room operations:
    • Set up / breaking down the tasting room bar, patios, etc.
    • Open and verify condition of wines
    • Prepare printed guest materials
    • Open/Close POS system
    • Stock wine and merchandise on Tasting Room floor and storage rooms
    • Perform sales transactions for both carry-out and shipping orders
    • Maintain clean and organized guest/employee spaces at all times
    • Ability to answer phone calls professionally
    • Ability to multi-task; hosting of multiple parties/set up and break down of
  • Actively continue education in wine production, viticulture, and winery history
  • Represent Chamisal at outside functions when necessary
  • Quickly recognize the signs that a guest should not be served alcohol and take appropriate action to professionally address the situation.
  • Behave in a professional and mature manner at all times
  • Adhere to company COVID-19 policies and procedures


EXPECTATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with a luxury wine brand a plus
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of wine and food and show enthusiasm to continually educate and share knowledge with guests and other co-workers (not required but a plus)
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and dynamic communication style
  • Comfortable speaking in front of crowds
  • Self-aware, able to work independently, and driven to make a difference
  • Must have a positive attitude and outlook with the ability to work within a team atmosphere
  • Must remain calm under pressure
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs, pass a physical exam and a drug test
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced hospitality environment

MUST be able to work weekends, holidays and during peak season
