POSITION: Housekeeper

TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Maintenance Director

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

STATUS: Non-Exempt/Hourly

SUMMARY

The Housekeeper is responsible to provide a clean, organized and sanitary environment for the residents. Housekeeping tasks are completed in both the resident's private apartments and in the general common areas of the building.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Must successfully clear a background check, TB skin test or x-ray, and health screening
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current certificate of training for successful completion of the five (5) hour initial fire safety training provided by the Rules and Regulations of the Georgia Safety Fire Commissioner


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers
  • Empty wastebaskets, clean, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors, using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
  • Dust and polish furniture, fitting and equipment
  • Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
  • Polish silver accessories and metalwork such as fixtures and fittings
  • Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as scheduled or necessary
  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas so that health standards are met
  • Clean metal fixtures and fittings
  • Dispose of trash in a sanitary manner
  • Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs and showers
  • Wipe down glass surfaces
  • Make up beds and change linens as required
  • Tidy up rooms
  • Operate mechanized cleaning equipment
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition
  • Monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacements

  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations (i.e. OSHA)
  • Participates in the risk management programs
  • Demonstrates the ability to be innovative and creative and have patience, high energy and resourcefulness in problem solving
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and flexible hours when necessary to meet the needs of our residents
  • Follows Business Casual Dress Code policies as outlined in the employee handbook for community and department specific standards
  • Adheres to Orchard's No Cell Phone policy as outlined in the employee handbook at all times
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
