Role and Responsibilities
Human Resource Specialist I – The primary responsibility of this position is to assist with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources function. Duties include; departmental development, HRIS, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organization development, executive administration, and employment. The Human Resources Specialist I contributes to the accomplishment of Human Resource practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture emphasizing empowerment, quality, productivity standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. Additionally, the Human Resource Specialist I helps with the implementation of services, policies, and programs, assisting company Managers, Supervisors and all employees with HR issues.
This position reports directly to the site Plant Manager with functional support from the corporate Human Resource Manager.

Specific duties include but are not limited to, assisting employees with resolutions and answers to concerns/questions (employee relations and services); maintain employee files and HR filing system; assist in recruiting and staffing logistics (interviewing, travel preparation, orientations, hiring paperwork, separations and exit interviews), conduct and document investigations relevant to incidents filed; document and maintain integrity of job interviews and candidate selection; support supervisors and payroll in corrections needed in preparation of payroll processing; assist in employee development, training logistics, opportunities and related recordkeeping; strong partnership, communication and crossover support with the Safety Department helping to ensure employee safety, welfare and wellness; assist in the administration, recordkeeping and reporting of compensation and benefits. Maintain strong and open communication with Management while expanding employee knowledge and adherence to WSI policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Qualified applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. Bilingual abilities are a plus but are not required. .Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all matters and be able to prioritize, multi-task and be thorough and accurate in all duties. MS Office experience is required. Candidate must be able to maintain a pleasant and professional demeanor in stressful situations, be reliable, a self-starter, and capable of following instructions and applying good judgment. Strong and constant communication with WSI management required. Prompt and regular attendance is required as well as an ability and willingness to be flexible in the work schedule as needed. Must be willing and able to travel as required.
