Overview of role:

The Workday Implementation Specialist will support the organization’s implementation activities with respect to the City’s new HRIS, Workday. At the direction of the HRIS Manager, this position will document business and configuration requirements, test Workday functionality, and provide varying degrees of user support pre- and post-launch. Workday is currently slated to go live in November of 2022.

This position will work collaboratively with the HR team, IT team, department-based stakeholders, and the City’s implementation partner, Collaborative Solutions. You will be responsible for building and fostering strong relationships with those players, understanding their system needs and providing support thereof, and delivering exceptional and responsive customer service.

The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communications skills, solid attention to detail, a general understanding of HR, IT, and/or business operations, and a strong desire to have an impact within a rapidly changing organization. We’re seeking someone motivated and curious who is interested in helping propel the Workday project forward while gaining valuable experience with one of the premier software platforms in the market.

The hiring range for this position starts at $74,360 - $82,567 depending on qualifications and experience.

This position is a fixed term/time-limited (12 – 18 months) full time role

Responsibilities

  • With support from the HRIS Manager, serve as a Workday functional “superuser,” developing an intimate understanding of how the system functions across the modules owned by the City (Core HCM, Core Compensation, Advanced Compensation, Time Tracking, Absence, Talent & Performance, Benefits, and Payroll)
  • As part of the core project team, conduct functional configuration and business requirements testing to ensure the design meets expectations
  • Process a variety of different personnel transactions (job changes, personal information updates, benefit changes, time and leave entry, etc.) in Workday in support of implementation cutover activities
  • In conjunction with the project team, provide Workday end user support for testing, training, and pre- and post-launch
  • Develop process and procedure documents for use during the project’s testing, training, and launch phases

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Human Resources, Business, IT, or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Highly motivated, curious, proactive, flexible, and results-oriented
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in HR, IT, and/or a related business field
  • Experience working with complex, enterprise-wide and/or HR information systems
  • Experience providing end-user support or other types of one-on-one customer service
  • Experience working in an environment with strict confidentiality environments
